2020 Vision
The 2020 Vision is that in the next 10 years, St Andrew’s Church will seek to grow in our love of Jesus, becoming more like him, and welcoming many more into his Kingdom. ~ Rev John Menear |
BackgroundIn 2006, St Andrew’s celebrated its centenary with the theme “One Sows, Another Reaps”. It was clear that the time had come for our generation to sow, so that others may reap. After two years of prayer and planning, a Vision development proposal from the vicar, council and staff was presented at a special meeting on 22 June 2008 and endorsed by the church. On 28 August 2009, St Andrew’s Church received government approval for its building plan. Two months later the “2020 Vision” was launched. A range of ministry expansion and fundraising initiatives followed. In November 2011, with $63 million raised, the church affirmed their commitment to the Vision development at a dedication ceremony conducted by Archbishop Paul Kwong. The site was handed over to the contractor in June 2012 and building work began. Then we will be mature, just as Christ is, and we will be completely like him.” (Ephesians 4:12-13) This vision comes from Jesus himself, who said: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.” (Luke 4:18-19) Therefore,
